The University of Miami has published a profile of DRRT Founder and Chairman Alexander Reus, highlighting his efforts to widen access to opportunities for international law students.

Alexander, who earned both his J.D. and LL.M. from the University of Miami School of Law in 1993, recently established the DRRT Strive for Excellence Endowed Law Scholarship. He has also created paid post-master’s internships at DRRT for students in the Law School’s international LL.M. program.

The initiative is rooted in personal experience. Arriving in the United States from Germany, Alexander remembers how challenging it was to obtain meaningful work experience as a foreign-trained lawyer. By providing structured, paid positions within the firm, he hopes to help today’s students build practical skills and professional networks during a critical stage of their careers.

Alexander remains actively involved with the University, meeting regularly with LL.M. students to discuss career planning, networking, and the realities of building an international legal practice.

As he noted in the article, “Giving back isn’t just about money. I believe in giving back with time, mentorship, and resources.”
